Ultrasonic flowmeters use sound waves to determine the velocity of a fluid flowing in a pipe. At no flow conditions, the frequencies of an ultrasonic wave transmitted into a pipe and its reflections from the fluid are the same.
Ultrasonic metering is very accurate and can be used for custody transfer (meaning accounting accurately for an expensive fluid) of natural gas and petroleum liquids. Ultrasonic flow meters can handle high pressures, is consistent, handles extreme temperatures, can be used clamped to the outside of a pipe without penetration, is low maintenance, highly reliable and self –diagnosing.
Ultrasonic flowmeters do not obstruct flow so they can be applied to sanitary, corrosive and abrasive liquids. Our ultrasonic flowmeters use clamp-on transducers that can be mounted external to the pipe and do not have any wetted parts. Temporary flow measurements can be made using portable ultrasonic flowmeters with clamp-on transducers. Clamp-on transducers are especially useful when piping cannot be disturbed, such as in power and nuclear industry applications. In addition, clamp-on transducers can be used to measure flow without regard to materials of construction, corrosion, and abrasion issues.

The FLUXUS® F/G706 combines high precision with the advantages of non-invasive ultrasonic flow measurement. With its 4 beams, in reflect mode providing 8 paths through the fluid, the meter averages the result of up to 4 planes. This arrangement averages-out cross-flow and achieves the optimum non-invasive compensation for disturbed flow profiles. On longer straight runs, the 4-Beam meter achieves outstanding accuracy performance due to the individually averaged path effects and can thus be used for control and redundancy measurements of custody transfer meters or for usage in protective systems for leak detection.
All boxes with an * must be completed for each row (*Gas – for all gas applications; *Ded – for all dedicated transmitters except 5×07). All other boxes are optional.
Compressed air accounts for as much as 10 % of industrial consumption of electricity. However, often less than 10% of this energy is converted to usable energy delivered to the end-users. Measuring the compressed air flow precisely in all conditions is the key to improving the energy efficiency of compressed air systems while reducing costs
FLEXIM develops, manufactures, and sells advanced process measuring devices for industrial applications. For more than 20 years, non-intrusive ultrasonic flow measurement has its name: FLUXUS®. The name PIOX® stands for process analytics – non-intrusive with the PIOX® S ultrasonic analyser, wetted with the PIOX® R transmitted light refractometer.
Sustainability and responsibility are two ways that remind us that every drop of water pumped out of the ground, or collected in a reservoir comes at a price, and brings potential for revenue.
Efficient data and device management FluxDiag helps you keep an excellent overview of your processes and transmitter parameterization with features such as live monitoring and remote device access. With this user-friendly software large data sets and large number of installation sites can be managed efficiently.
Portable, very robust and easy-to-use ultrasonic flowmeter for the water and wastewater industry
The WaveInjector® has been specifically engineered for high-temperature applications. Using patented technology, the WaveInjector® thermally separates ultrasonic transducers from the hot pipe, allowing operation at process temperatures up to 400 °C and beyond.
The international standard IEC / DIN EN 61508 regulates the requirements for safety functions in safety-related applications. The starting point is always a risk analysis:
FLUXUS® measures flow rates non-intrusively with ultrasound. Clamp-on ultrasonic transducers are simply mounted on the outside of the pipe. The practical advantages are obvious: no wear and tear by the medium flowing inside the pipe, no risk of liquid leakage or fugitive gas emissions, no pressure loss and, above all, unlimited plant availability.
Since 2008 FLEXIM’s unique non-invasive ultrasonic flow meters have been running in various LNG applications: from 3” lines in peak shaving plants to 36” pipes for tanker off-loading to storage tanks.
Permanently installed ultrasonic clamp-on system for flow measurement of water
From wellhead to refinery, the flows of crude oil, natural gas and refined products need to be measured every step of the way. Harsh environments with corrosive atmospheres offshore or hot and dirty applications during crude oil refining require tough solutions.
PIOX® S721 determines mass flow rate, concentration, density and other parameters by means of clamp-on ultrasonic transducers mounted on the outside of the pipe. The non-invasive acoustic technology is the system of choice when substances and processes place highest demands on safety and reliability.

Flow Measurement Services is a division of Flexim Americas Corporation, a company that specializes in the manufacturing and development of Ultrasonic Flow Meters. The FMS division of Flexim specializes in verification and calibration of existing flow measurement devices, and
flow audits where existing metering is not
Our flow meters convince by their accurate, reliable and long term measurement stability. As the clamp-on ultrasonic transducers are attached to the outside of the pipe wall, the measurement system is never in contact with the medium flowing inside the pipe and is therefore virtually free of wear and tear
FLUXUS® XLF is FLEXIM‘s non-invasive metering system for the stable and long term reliable measurement of extremely low flow rates down to 3 l/h and below on line sizes ranging from 10 mm to 50 mm independent of the pipe wall thickness. As the flow sensors are mounted externally, there is no process interruption for installation. Moreover, due their IP66 / NEMA 6P rating, ATEX / IECEx Zone 1 / 2 as well as FM Class I, Div. 1 / 2 approval and being completely made out of stainless steel (316L / 1.4404 grade), the measurement system is highly rugged and withstands even the harshest and most corrosive environmental conditions.
